How to drive Kolyma Highway (the Road of Bones) in winter?

Kolyma Road in winter is in perfect condition. However, in mountain area, especially, it is highly recommended to be all eyes, drive slowly, watch ahead to see if there are cars coming towards you, in order to escape the situation when two cars meet each other in the narrowest way over a cliff and cannot go backward to let a car pass through.

Another tip is to pass over mountains in dark time. Because in darkness you may easily sport the car far off. However, it is recommended. Locals drive the mountain pass in the course of the whole day.

Winter tires are a must to use. The road in winter is very slippery.

UPDATE: Since this post I wrote much about the condition of the Kolyma Highway. Please, check other post for more up-to-date information.
