A Korean is asking, whether it is secure in Yakutia. The question is simple, but requires much efforts to answer. So I decided to narrow the reply and give tips for Yakutsk only.
In Yakutsk you won’t find racist expressions. Local population is very multinational. Many have Asian-look. For instance, such nations as Yakut/Sakha, Evenks, Evens, Buryats, etc. In this term residents of Korea, any other Asian nations and foreigners at all will feel very comfortable.
But there are four tips to remember:
(1) Try not to go outside and walk alone even in downtown, when it is too late, after, maybe, 8 pm. Otherwise, you may meet drunk young hooligans, who are always demanding money in order to get another drink. When it is the late evening, use taxi for security reasons.
(2) Try not to visit suspicious night clubs with cheap drinks and free entrance. For the same reason. Drunk hooligans. In Yakutsk, there are a few clubs with good security, for instance, Dragon, Korona, Polar Star Hotel. Visit such places only with friends and, please, spend time till midnight or 1 am. If you need evening entertainment, you are recommended to visit restaurants or nice cafes (not a bar), where it is always secure.
(3) Keep your money always inside pockets. Especially, when using public transports.
(4) Try not to get drunk so that not to be robbed at streets.
The above tips will be enough. However, keep your eyes open all the time : )
