Taxi & Flight: Yakutsk – Oymyakon – Ust Nera – Yakutsk

November 20, 2008

“Next January I will come in Yakutia. I will stay 2 days in Yakutsk then I’ll go to Oymyakon by a long-distance taxi (where does this taxi start?). To come back is it possible to fly from ust nera to yakutsk? You know aircompany and cost of ticket?” asked a weblog visitor.

Actually, there are no special stations for taxi drivers of this sort. We usually give them call and make orders, then, on the day of departure, they pick us up and we go. They don’t have fixed departure
schedules. It depends on accepted orders. If there are enough passengers (usually 5-8 persons), they go. There is one taxi service I mentioned in the previous post. If any, it is possible to learn taxi
drivers’ phone number and departure days from local TV ads.

It is possible to fly from Ust-Nera to Yakutsk. There are flights on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. One way fly ticket costs 11400 rubles (approx. 335 EUR). BUT you have to remember one thing. Delays and
flight cancels due to weather conditions are considered to be normal. If fog or snowfall occurred, you might be stuck for a few days. That’s why local residents prefer to go by cars. Driving takes about two
days.
