This is incredible. A Swiss backpacker asked me about homestay possibilities in Yakutsk. I started thinking. At my place no free space is available. Kids, you know. His question seemed to stay without a positive response. But I went another way
I launched a gossip among my friends and wrote on my local blog like ‘A young Swiss needs a bed & breakfast for two nights only. Help wanted.’ Next day I started receiving calls from friends’ friends, who were wishing to host international visitors for one or another day. Just for 25 EUR per day.
I was surprised. People want to offer a room. Why? Reasons are different. One say that’s all about cultural exchange, another about foereign language practice, the third states ’25 EUR is a good additional source of income. The crisis, you know.’
So. 25 EUR per a day is a great bargain and option. The best Yakutsk hotels offer is an accommodation for 100 USD per day. I am glad that locals are ready to accommodate foreigners just for small fee. However, I think 30 EUR or a little bit more will sound much politely. Whatever. If anyone needs homestay in Yakutsk, just let me know.
