How to contact a melting permafrost expert in Yakutsk?

In the course of the week received two requests with the same question like “Do you know the contact info of the Yakutsk-based expert, who can give profound information on how climate changes affect melting permafrost.” The first inquiry arrived from two world-known photographers and another from a Swedish journalist.

Photographers, of New York and Munchen, wrote:
“There we want to look at problems with buildings and infrastructure due to the melting of permafrost. We have seen the yakutiatoday website, which we like very much. Therefor we are getting in touch with you. We plan to come to Yakutsk for one week by the end of July. We want to meet people that are having problems due to the melting of the permafrost. We also would like to visit the Permafrost Institute and talk with some scientists there about the melting of the permafrost. Would you know people affected by infrastructure damage in Yakutsk, due to permafrost melt? Do you know who we could talk to at the Permafrost Institute?”

A Swedish journalist wrote:
“I’ve got a question about permafrost. I read that Yakutsk is build on permafrost, and the houses therefore are on stilts. My question is: what would happen if permafrost melts? Has that happened?”

“I am writing an article for swedish media about melting permafrost and are glad to get every help I can.
I’ve planned to travel to Yakutia to visit permfrostland this August/September and would like to meet someone who can describe how it’s like to live on frozens grounds. Maybe you know someone who I could interview?”
