At long last, I managed to get 2009 Summer Hydrofoil Vessels Timetable for those, who expressed the strong wish to travel along the Lena River from Ust-Kut to Yakutsk. This is a long voyage, I need to warn you.
To make the way from Ust-Kut to Yakutsk, you need, first, to reach Peleduj, then to change the boat and leave for Lensk, next you have to buy one ticket for the route Lensk – Olekminsk – Yakutsk. The latter doesn’t mean that you’ll go on one vessel to the final destination. It means contrary. With one ticket you get to Olekminsk on one boat, then depart for Yakutsk on another one. So, the whole trip requires four boats to travel.
Here is other important things to keep in mind:
- Tickets must be bought at a river port of departure, i.e. in Osetrovo (Ust-Kut), Peleduj, Lensk and Yakutsk. No online sale is available.
- Olekminsk is just the place of transit (vessels change). Just get one boarding pass from Lensk to Yakutsk (or from Yakutsk to Lensk). That will be enough.
- Passenger traffic is huge. Tickets might be sold and unavailable on the day of departure. Arrange advance purchase.
- Ticket reservation is highly recommended by the administrations of river ports. On behalf of travelers, travel agencies can do it by fax.

Osetrovo River Port (Ust-Kut)
Route: Osetrovo (Ust-Kut) – Peleduj.
Vessel: “Polesje”
Sailing time: 12 hrs
Departure days: everyday, except Sunday.
Departure time: 8:00 am.

A traveler can spend night at a local host house for 600 rubles. That’s the price per person and for one bed.

Departure time: 15:00 pm.
Price: 2400 rubles.

Route: Lensk – Yakutsk.
Vessel: “Raketa”
Sailing time: 18 hrs (6 hrs to Olekminsk, then 12 hrs to Yakutsk)
Departure days: on even days (for instance, on June 4, 6, 8, 10, etc).
Departure time: 9.00 am.
Price: 6100 rubles.
