A question from a Hungarian fisherman sounded like this:
What kind of fishing are in the Yana River and it’s tributaries?
Frankly saying, I am not a big fan of fishing. So, I decided to call the Republic’s Biological Resources Department. Here is the list of fishes people can catch in this river:
- vendace (coregonus albula, ряпушка),
- muksun (coregonus muksun, муксун),
- omul (омуль),
- peled (coregonus peled, пелядь),
- broad whitefish (coregonus nasus, чир),
Very occasionally you can see:
- white salmon (population is small now at this area, they are plenty in the Lena River and Kolyma),
- taimen.
