Checked my mail archive and found out the answer to the question received from a globetrotter. He asked about the availability of flight from Magadan to Anadyr.
That inquiry regarded to Magadan Oblast! Not about Yakutia. But… I wasn’t surprised at all. I am writing much about the way to Magadan, so people thought, maybe, I knew anything related to the neighbor area. Well, I recommended him to get in touch with DVS Tour. Later he came back with the info. Here it is.
The situation is more clear now, but the news are bad. There is only one flight per two weeks from Magadan to Anadyr and it is very expensive, around 25000 roubles one way (more then round trip to Moscow). In addition, we know nothing about confirmed flights from Anadyr to Alaska. So probably I will rather go to Kamchatka, (which is easy to explore) then to Chukotka.
Regarding flights from Anadyr to Alaska I can say definitely. There isn’t as such. Moreover, there is no air connection between the Far East and USA.
This issue was mentioned many times with local authorities during their meetings with Vladivostok’s US Consulate General. You know, Yakutia Airlines is ready to fly this direction. Every time the consul agreed with the necessity of establishing direct flights and promised to research and improve the situation. But… things are right where they started.
At present people are forced to fly the route Vladivostok/Khabarovsk – Seoul – Seattle. Very complicated, indeed.
